I've just installed VS2026 (afaik behaviour of "open file in solution" is correct in VS2022)
It's making it impossible to find what I'm looking for because there are so many "duplicates" being picked up from the unreal intermediates folder. |

First guess, click on the Gear icon in the top right hand corner of the OFIS dialog, and see if you have:
Open File in Solution dialog -> Settings Icon -> Include all files in solution directories (CTRL+D)
turned On or Off. If this is turned On, please turn it Off. |

It appears to be off

It also appears to be including binary unreal assets in the search

While I set up a test case, do you remember if this solution was created in VS2026, or migrated into VS2026 from an earlier version of Visual Studio?
If you look in the Solution Explorer window, are these unwanted files listed as members of your solution? If they are, then VA is correct in listing them in the OFIS dialog, even though they aren't wanted. If this is what is happening then I can show you how to filter them out.
But if they are turning up and they shouldn't be there, then we really should get to the bottom of that, rather than just excluding them. |

I don't think unreal officially supports 2026 yet, I'm sort of dipping my toes into the waters of 2026, to see how it feels. Which is basically a long way of saying it's a 2022 solution that I have not migrated to 2026 (or it still has to use the 2022 toolset or something like that).
And because I'm having issues like this, I'm only really trying out 2026 for a short time, then closing it and then re-opening the .sln in 2022. So if that could be messing up VAX then I apologise.
I had a look at the solution explorer in 2026 and none of the intermediate files appear to be listed there, I tried messing around with a few of the options ("show all files") but it didn't change anything
and to be clear - 2022 is unfazed and working as expected |
