I've just noticed that if you <shift><right click> in the selection margin to bring up the VA X pop-up menu, that from that point on you can no longer select any text in the code editor by clicking and dragging the mouse.
You can still select text using <shift><arrow keys>.
The only way to re-enable the ability to click and drag, is by closing that particular code window, and then re-opening it.
I'm using Visual Studio 2002 with VA X 1246
I'm guessing that the problem is related to another issue I noticed http://forum.wholetomato.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2543 |

Hmm, works the way it should...
a) No need to <shift><right click> in the margin, <right click> is enough (VS .NET 2003) b) To select, I do not have to use the dark-grey "selection margin", but the small space where the "group nodes" are (the mousecursor points to the upper right when in the area)
Just to make sure we're talking about the same area:

Yes you are correct, we are talking about the same thing. I must make a correction though, I was only doing a <right click> in the selection margin. I have the selection margin set up the same way as you do, except that I'm using VC++ in Visual Studio 2002. |

We cannot reproduce the problem, with or without "Extend Context Menu" enabled. VS 2002. Perhaps we are not following the exact sequence of steps to reproduce the problem.
Do you have any other software that might be looking for RMB or Shift+RMB?
Any other suspect add-ins installed? |

We retried the examples in the topic Joe mentions. Still not able to reproduce. |

No I do not have any other addins installed.
Yes, the problem I am having seems like it's identical to the one in TOPIC_ID=2149. I do have other small utility apps running at the moment so I'll do some playing around to see if any of them are the culprits.
One thing that I thought I noticed was that the problem didn't occur to files that I had created and saved in the IDE, but not yet added to my C++ project. I could be wrong on that one though. I'll let you know what I find. |

I shut down every utility app that I had running and the problem is still occuring.
Support, I just emailed you two sets of logs that VA X generated. One set where the click and drag works because no right click was done in the selection margin, and another set where the click and drag does not work after a right click was done in the selection margin.
Let me know it there is more I can send you. |
