When using autotext in text (*.txt) files. The CPP autotext gets loaded with a *.txt file when using VS 2005 and a project is loaded. No autotext is loaded when editing a *.txt file in VS 2005 when no project is loaded.

I see the same thing. One thing I note, however, is that I have no entries in the autotext list for text files. Haven't a clue if that is relevant or not, but do you have any in yours? Does it matter what kind of project you have open (I only have C++ projects available)?

I've added a couple autotext items to Text File, and restarted several time just ot make sure the settings where being read. I've loaded C++, C#, and Web projects and I still get the C++ auto text for Text Files.

Thank you

from this forum thread:

http://forum.wholetomato.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4492

autotext is not supposed to work at all in text files. getting the C++ entries is a bug, but unfortunately you are not going to get the text entries in there place, at least not in the short term.

Now that you point it out, I remember reading that thread. The question I have now is, why is there an entry for text, and the page mentioning support for text files? There is no clear indication of limitations (perhaps only code templates and not autotext is supported?).
