In previous versions (I can't remember which one), the "Spell check" tool was available for any file but this isn't the case any longer. I have a Version.txt file in my project which I want to spell check but since 1539 (and probably some more versions back) the "Spell check" tool is disabled for that file. It works great for my .cpp file though.

This is in our list. For now I would suggest using a different program for editing text files, one that does spell checking. Personally I tend to do my text in MS Word and then copy / paste it into text files, since I find the spell checking to be useful, and the copy / paste into notepad makes sure I am not accidentally relying on any MS Word file format features.
