When the mouse cursor happens to be over the suggestion list or the completion list, the keyboard input goes straight to the editor. So when I press Enter, it just causes a new line, and the suggestion/comp list is still displayed; arrow keys just move the cursor in the editor.
This problem has been posted here before, but didn't seem to be resolved: http://forum.wholetomato.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5683&SearchTerms=suggestion,list,mouse

Forgot to mention: this happens with build 1544 using VS.NET. |

If you look at the bottom of topic 5662 I was never able to reproduce this, and got no answer to my final question.
How easily can you reproduce this problem? Is the list appearing underneath the mouse, or are you moving the mouse over the list?
I have just tried a couple of basic tests here using VS2003 and VA 1544 and I cannot reproduce the problem. |

I get this problem all the time. It doesn't matter whether the list happens to pop up under the mouse, or whether I move the mouse over it. As soon as the mouse is over the list, it stops receiving keyboard input.
Is there any additional information I can provide?
I tried the test you suggested in the other topic (completing nSuggestMe multiple times), and that works perfectly unless the mouse cursor interferes. Perhaps the same thing happened to other posters, but they didn't notice that the mouse cursor was the culprit? |

This is such a rare problem (based on the number of reports) that it suggests there is something different about your system. Do you have any utilities / programs running that would effect the mouse or focus?
I recall a Microsoft powertoy to change window focus by moving the mouse over a different window. I am wondering if something like that could cause this problem. |

Thanks, that was it! I used Microsoft's TweakUI to enable moving focus to the window underneath the cursor, and as soon as I disabled it, the list started working properly.
Would it be possible for Visual Assist to handle this situation? I really like changing window focus with the mouse. |

I have put in a bug report for this, but to be honest this is not a high priority fix.
case=4936
for now if you keep this turned on try to keep the mouse away from where you are typing, so it does not overlay the listboxes. |
