One of my colleagues has a problem with VA (we tried 1544 and 1548) for VC6 on Win XP. He has an additional Add-in: Interface for CATIA V5 (Dassault Systems). Another colleague runs this combination on Win 2000 without any problems. On XP two things can happen:

1.) When starting the IDE an immediate error is presented: "Runtime error! This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact...". This error comes up in approx. 1 of 3 trials when starting the IDE.

2.) The IDE comes up, but when opening a "CAA V5 Workspace", the IDE hangs. This happens in nearly 2 of 3 trials when starting the IDE. When the IDE hangs either "Loading workspace" or "Ready" is shown in the status bar. In both cases the IDE tree views are not populated.

Altogether, a workspace is sucessfully opened after about 6 to 10 trial. But this is not an option. In rare cases it won't work at all. Rebooting then normally helps to get it run in a few trials.

Disabling VA by clicking the button in the VA toolbar doesn't make any difference.

The macros that are installed by CAA (5 altogether, 2 active, 3 disabled) are the following:

active: CAA V5 Code Generator
active: CAA V5 Mkmk Add-in
disabled: CAA V5 Workspace Manager
disabled: CAA ENOVIA Developer Studio Add-in
disabled: CATIA Designer Studio Add-in

I guess that not many users run VA and CAA together, but we hope that you can help us with the problem even though...

Regards,
Marcus.

After a quick web search I have ended up here:

http://www.ptc.com/community/free_downloads.htm

is this the right website? I am not seeing anything to suggest an IDE plugin.

I'm sorry for giving too less information. The correct website is:

http://www.3ds.com/home

I guess they don't offer a "free download" version directly on their site. I don't even know if they are willing to cooperate. Maybe you can try to contact them via their "Support", if this is alright for you...

Regards,
Marcus.

Does the plugin come from this company? I have been looking around the website, trying some searches, but so far I cannot find any sign of an IDE plugin.

I am quite happy to email their support people and ask for a plugin for testing purposes, but I want to make sure I am talking to the right people first

The plugin is definitely from that company. But IBM manages the world wide release. Try this link on the mentioned site:

http://www.3ds.com/products-solutions/plm-solutions/catia/all-products/domain/CAA_RADE-1/product/CID-1/?no_cache=1&cHash=497d658bd5

If you click the first image from the image gallery you will hopefully see something familiar

Anyway, I must admit, their site is not very well structured...

Marcus.

Thank you for this, the screen shot is indeed very familiar. I have emailed their support department asking about a trial / demo of the plugin. Hopefully they will be able to help.

This is off to a really good start *rolls eyes* The email reply is:

We'd like to inform you that to submit any question about DS Solutions you have to adress first your request to your reseller.

Do you have contact details for your reseller?

I have not had any reply at all, unless my spam filter ate it. You might want to try emailing them, perhaps as a customer you will get a better response. If you could "simply" get hold of a demo of the plugin that should help.
