I have been experiencing a problem ever since I installed Visual Studio 2005 SP1. The problem did not occur with out-of-the-box VS2005, it was introduced with SP1.
To reproduce, I do the following: - Start VS2005sp1 - Load my solution (contains 32 projects with hundreds of C++ files) - Wait until VA_X stops printing messages in the status bar and CPU goes to idle. - Open any C++ source file - Page down 2-3 times.
Result: - CPU utilization jumps to 100% and remains there for several seconds. VS2005 is unresponsive until the utilization drops back down, so I have to wait. Analyzing the devenv.exe process with Process Explorer, I can see that the responsible thread has the following call stack:
- I deleted directory C:\\Program Files\\Visual Assist X\\vc8 to clear the VA_X symbol cache in case there were any corrupt database files. But the problem was immediately reproducible, so I don't think this helped.
I created log files using the steps defined in http://docs.wholetomato.com?W305, but I do not see how to attach them to this message. Please let me know how to get the logs to you.
