When i have to embed a large block of text directly as string literal in the code (eg. SQL). It would be nice if i simply coud select the lines an press " to create a string literal.

This is not something we are currently planning on doing in VA, but I had a very similar problem, and wrote an IDE macro to do this, which is here:

alternatively you could use a VA Snippet with the code:
