Installing VAX still resets the toolbars in VS2003.NET. The toolbar menu is now working, but the name of the toolbar is now "Visual Assist X Pkg", also shown on the menu. |

"Visual Assist X Pkg" is a temporary thing. We expect to rename it to ""Visual Assist X" shortly.
We migrated all of our code related to toolbars and menus so it uses the VSIP interface to the IDE. We unhooked ourselves a bit from the add-in interface.
VSIP is nice for glossy stuff like menus, the splash screen, etc. The add-in interface lets us get the gritty stuff done.
Our toolbar will reset a few more times before the beta is done. Once we've added a few more items to the menu and toolbar, we'll be done for a while. VSIP should let you install future revs of VA X without suffering resets. |

Guys, I'm not concerned with resetting the VAX toolbar, but unfortunately it resets ALL toolbars in VS.NET. |

We see the problem. Most of our machines are setup with default VS.NET environments so we didn't notice the problem right away.
It appears any package that uses VSIP to create menus and toolbars, and a nifty icon in the VS.NET splash, resets all VS.NET toolbars every time it is installed. Rather lame if you ask us. Other VSIP products we tried do the same thing.
We are looking for a hack, er, workaround. |

I installed Compuware Numega DevPartner for C++ the other day and it did the exact same thing. Reset all my freakin menus, toolbars, custom hotkeys, everything. But it seems like I saw a new release of VSIP recently. Perhaps M$ has fixed it. |
