Just upgraded to Visual Assist X 10.1.1418.0 on my computer with VS .NET 2003. I can open any solution that has C++ only projects, but I can nolonger open solutions that contain C++ and Intel Fortran projects, nor can I open Intel Fortran only solutions. I can open the VS IDE without a problem. When I try to open the offending solution, I see the solution load, but when it appears to be finished loading, the entire Visual Studio IDE closes. I don't get any crash messages. I rolled my installation back to .1301 and I can get past this problem using the older build.

Thanks in advance.

do you have any empty files in the project? i have seen this happen when there are empty Fortran files present.

I don't believe that I do, but why would that matter with the current version? The previous version does not have this limitation.

the only other time i have heard of problems with Intel Fortran is in this thread:

http://forum.wholetomato.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3764

in this case an empty file was the trigger for the problem. it is worth pointing out that the Intel Fortran compiler demo i downloaded installs its own plugin into the IDE. two different plugings, VAX and Fortran in this case, both playing with the IDE can cause problems.

i have just checked, and my basic auto-generated Fortran windows project loads fine with VAX 1418 installed so long as there are no empty Fortran files in the project.

i cannot say why this change happened with 1418, one of the developers would need to look into this to comment. however it is worth remembering that the IDE does not know VAX is there, or what VAX is doing, so there is plenty of scope for a clash with the Fortran plugin.
