Build 1422 is available for download. All users with 1421 should install this build since it fixes a frequent crash.

Fixes in build 1422 are described at:

Read the post for build 1421 if you haven't already. It describes important changes to Autotext and Code Templates.

When I started VS.NET 2003 after installing 1422, I got the "Visual Assist Trial" dialog, which said that my evaluation period had expired, and the "Try" button was greyed out. The support period for my license ended 09-07-05, so it makes sense that I'd need to purchase a renewal license to use newer versions, but it seems like the evaluation period counter should be reset once I have purchased a license. In other words, I'd like to evaluate the new version before choosing whether I want to renew my support license, but I can't seem to do so. Is this expected behavior?

what could possibly go wrong? :D

*goes off to check*

it says on the forum thread for 1421 that you can run it in trial mode if you are not covered by technical support, so i will ask how to fix this.

Not sure that this is expected; need to investigate further. email [email protected] and request a trial key in the meantime.

i have finally managed to get VS 2005 RC downloaded. i am not seeing any signs of problems here in my initial testing.

do you have a reproducible way to upset the IDE? can you get a VA log file of this problem in action? can you get a call stack when the IDE crashes?

We had a buffer overrun bug processing long macros - macros with names in excess of 100 characters. Fixed for 1424. Any chance that is what smakofsky is seeing?
